Garmin Connect: Your Mission Control

The watch is the sensor. Garmin Connect is the brain that remembers, charts and explains everything it captures. Spend ten minutes here and the watch suddenly makes a lot more sense.

The four areas you'll actually use

Connect can feel busy. Ignore the clutter and learn these four:

  • My Day — the home dashboard. A live snapshot: steps, heart rate, Body Battery, sleep, today's activity. This is your morning glance.
  • Challenges & Insights — badges, streaks and gentle nudges. Optional, but great for motivation (Day 70 dives in).
  • Calendar / History — every activity and night's sleep, stored forever. Trends live here.
  • Devices menu — the gear/device icon. This is where you control the watch from your phone — often easier than tapping through tiny watch menus.
Pro move

Most watch settings can be changed in the Devices menu in Connect, with a full keyboard and big screen. Reordering data screens or widgets is far less painful here than on the watch.

Reorder your dashboard

The "My Day" screen is customisable. Tap to edit and drag the cards you care about to the top — sleep, training, stress, whatever matters to you. A dashboard tuned to your priorities is one you'll actually open every morning.

Connections, privacy & sharing

Connect has a social layer — you can add friends, join groups and share activities. It's entirely opt-in. In settings you control exactly what's visible and to whom. We'll do a proper privacy pass later, but know that by default your data is private to you.

Garmin Connect on the web

There's also a full website version at connect.garmin.com. The phone app is for daily use; the website is better for deep analysis, building workouts and planning routes on a big screen. Same account, same data, two windows into it.

Your task today

Open Connect and customise your "My Day" dashboard — drag your top three metrics to the top and remove anything you don't care about. Then find the Devices menu and just look at how many watch settings live there. Tomorrow: keeping watch and phone perfectly in sync.
